     RE: PUBLIC REVIEW AND COMMENTS – THE MUTUAL FUNDS BILL, 2002


                                 March 28, 2002


The Securities Commission of the Bahamas (“the Commission”) invites the public to review and comment on the draft Mutual Funds Bill (Bill) which is expected to replace the Mutual Funds Act, 1995.

The present legislation empowers the Commission to regulate mutual funds and to license mutual funds administrators that operate within or from The Bahamas.

The proposed new legislation, upon enactment, will enhance the present regulatory framework, providing for greater market efficiency, transparency and investor protection.

The public is invited to submit comments in writing before close of business on 16 April 2002. They may be sent to-
